Students to move court over PU-CET fiasco
CHANDIGARH: It's an exam muddle that has upset students terribly. Over 8000 students who took CET-2006 conducted by the PU on June 12, kept struggling to find the answers to five questions in the Physics paper.
But, after three days they were surprised to learn that because of a printing mistake, none of the answer keys matched with related questions.

Adding another episode to the PU-CET fiasco, five questions in the Physics paper (Q Nos 1, 10, 17, 20 and 32) and two questions in the Chemistry paper (Q Nos 11 and 41) were wrongly printed in the question paper.
The students got to know about this mistake on June 15, when the answer keys were made public by putting these on the PU web site.
Rather than mentioning the answers, an '*' mark was put in front of these questions and it was explained that due to ambiguity/ printing mistake, all candidates have been given full credit for these questions.
These questions were worth 14 marks, is a lot for students appearing in an entrance examination. The university had earlier announced that the answer keys will be made public before the declaration of results.

However, they were only made public on June 15, that is one day after the declaration of results. This left no room for students to approach the PU authorities before the result were declared.
Now, the students are planning to challenge the results in court. Recently, the controller of examination and assistant registrar have been chargesheeted for the fiasco.
They say that they wasted a lot of time in solving these questions while taking the examination and could not attempt all the questions, which has affected their overall performance in the paper.
The university has already removed the answer keys from the website, but students are waiting for the high court to start its functioning after the summer vacations. The examination was plagued by problems from the very start.
CET-2006, which was originally scheduled for May 20 could not be held on the same day as the vehicle carrying the question papers for the test never reached the university. It was then rescheduled for June 12.
